Cutting your hair is good idea if you feel good about it, it always did look good short and you managed not to look like a lesbian(not that there's anything wrong with that), where I totally failed to not look like one... if it all goes horribly awry(spelling?) you can always wear a hat... worked for me, sorta...
actually you never did look like a lesbian - the chick who copied you and shaved her head - now SHE looked like a lesbian. In fact... I would NOT be surprised if she turned out to be one...
